It is suitable for determining the water soluble acid and alkali in liquid petroleum products, additives, lubricants, paraffin and wax containing components according to the methods specified in GB/T 259.

The SYD-259 petroleum product water-soluble acid and alkali tester extracts water-soluble acids and bases from the sample using distilled water or ethanol aqueous solution. Then, the color change of the extract is checked using methyl orange or phenolphthalein indicator, or the pH value of the extract is measured using an acidity meter to determine the presence of water-soluble acids or bases.
