Characteristics of SSI microporous aerator:
Standard low plasticity EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber), EPDM is a synthetic rubber product developed according to customer needs. By relying on its unique compound composition and molding process, the membrane can maintain its physical properties for a long time under minimum water pressure, resist tearing, and maintain its shape after years of cyclic operation, generating fine bubbles. Our EPDM membrane products have been tested in various municipal and industrial wastewater treatment applications with excellent results. However, standard EPDM is not recommended for applications with solvents, oils, or lubricants, as well as high concentrations of metal salts.
EPDM PTFE coated with PTFE and VITON is a synthetic rubber commonly known as fluororubber. They have a wide tolerance to various chemicals, solvents, oils, lubricants, etc. that can cause damage to traditional rubber, and are therefore recognized as a high-performance material. However, the disadvantage is that the price is expensive. Therefore, SSI has developed the application of fluororubber coating, which achieves permanent bonding with EPDM surface or other substrate materials through patented technology. Practice has proven that this is an effective method. SSI's new technology enables the membrane not only to maintain the excellent physical properties of traditional rubber materials, but also to have the chemical, solvent, and fat resistance of the world's most advanced rubber materials, which you can afford. Many wastewater treatment plants that have suffered membrane damage due to calcium accumulation and solvent corrosion have proven that SSI's new PDM membrane coated with fluororubber does not scale or cause any changes in material properties during use. Before SSI developed fluororubber membranes, silicone rubber and polyurethane were the two main alternative materials for wastewater treatment plants with scaling or rubber oxidation caused by chemical solvents. Although SSI currently produces silicone rubber and polyurethane membranes, we are more optimistic about the various properties of fluororubber membranes because silicone rubber and polyurethane can tear due to bending faults over time, which has little impact on EPDM membranes. Both polyurethane and silicone rubber are not suitable for cyclic operation, and they are not more cost-effective than EPDM coated with fluororubber.
