Scope and Application
The QBZ8-N series mining explosion-proof vacuum reversible electromagnetic starter (hereinafter referred to as the starter) is suitable for underground coal mines with explosive gas mixtures (methane) and coal dust. It is used in power supply systems with AC 50Hz and voltage up to 660V for remote control of the starting, stopping, reversing, or local stopping of mining explosion-proof three-phase squirrel cage induction motors with corresponding frequencies and voltages. The isolation switch of the starter has a certain breaking capacity. The starter also has protection functions such as overload, short circuit, phase failure, voltage loss, and main circuit leakage lockout.
The starter shall be designed, manufactured, and inspected in accordance with relevant standards such as GB3836.1-2000 "Electrical Equipment for Explosive Gas Environments Part 1: General Requirements" and GB3836.2-2000 "Electrical Equipment for Explosive Gas Environments Part 2: Explosion proof Type" d ".

Structural Overview
The starter consists of an explosion-proof shell and components such as an AC vacuum contactor, isolation switch, control button, control transformer, JDB protector, fuse, and overvoltage protector installed inside the shell.
The starter housing is cylindrical with a protruding bottom and cover. The shell cover and shell body are connected by a rotating cover structure. There is a junction box on the upper part of the shell for introducing and extracting cables. On the right side of the casing, there is a handle for operating the isolation switch and a local stop button, and a reliable mechanical interlocking device is installed. This device ensures that the casing cover cannot be opened when the isolation switch is closed. Only when the stop button is pressed, the main circuit is disconnected, and the isolation switch handle is turned to the "open" position, can a special tool be used to exit the interlocking rod and open the casing cover. There is a reliable electrical interlock between the two contactors in the main chamber to ensure that the two contactors cannot be simultaneously closed.
