Triple echo
All ultrasonic thickness gauges should be calibrated according to the sound velocity of the material being measured. The sound velocity in coatings is different from that in metals, and the thickness of the coating must be removed during measurement. Three echoes can remove the influence of all coatings in the measurement.
working principle
The emitted ultrasonic pulses pass through the coating and metal and reflect from the bottom. The reflected echo reflects back and forth in the metal, with only a small portion of the echo passing through the coating and returning each time. The time between two small echoes is the propagation time of sound waves in metal, corresponding to the thickness of the metal. The echo does not need to be continuous, the instrument can automatically determine the echo and calculate the thickness value. Confirm the minimum three echoes each time, which is the Automatic Measurement Verification System (AMVS).
