The FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter provides accurate and unobstructed flow velocity measurement, suitable for a wide range of full pipe flow velocity measurements, including drinking water, raw wastewater, discharge water, well water, mud, and almost all liquids that can transmit sound. The FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter utilizes the latest ultrasonic technology and is a precise and easy-to-use hybrid flowmeter that can be operated in either Doppler or transmission time modes. The FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter has a fast and simple clamp type installation transducer, factory preset, and user programmable menu operation interface, which can be immediately put into on-site use. The FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter uses customized algorithms and DSP technology to ensure high-precision flow measurement, and the patented AGC algorithm does not require manual gain adjustment.

FM500 Ultrasonic Flow Meter - Optional Features
Three configurable relay outputs and communication packages can be selected to connect the flowmeter to a computer via RS-232, RS-485, USB, or Ethernet. The communication package of FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter also allows remote access and control of all functions, including real-time display, system configuration, data recording, remote data acquisition, and process control. The software included in the communication package allows remote internet access through local network devices.

The FM500 series hybrid ultrasonic flowmeter can measure the flow rate of almost all liquids that can propagate sound waves. The FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter is called a "hybrid" flow meter because it can measure flow using Doppler or transmission time methods. The sound transducer of FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter is clamped on the surface of the pipeline and has no moving parts. This flow measurement method is safe, non-invasive, and very easy to maintain.
The Doppler measurement method of FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter requires the measurement of particles in the liquid that can reflect sound waves. If there are no particles in the fluid, incorrect readings may occur when using the Doppler method.
The transmission time measurement method of FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter requires relatively "clean" fluid to enable sound waves to complete the circuit. When the fluid contains particles, the FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter can also use transmission time mode. Considering the variation in the number of fluid particles, the FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter monitors the gain of the signal and periodically adjusts the gain using an automatic gain control (AGC) algorithm to maintain the optimal power level.
The speed at which sound is transmitted in liquid must be known. During initial configuration, the manufacturer will configure the ultrasonic flowmeter as a known liquid. The FM500 ultrasonic flowmeter has a user interface with 5 buttons that can be used to configure the flowmeter. The ultrasonic flowmeter software lists many common fluids that can be directly selected from the menu. If the sound velocity in the liquid is known, the customized "unknown" liquid can be manually inputted into the ultrasonic flowmeter by the user.
