1、 Overview
The magnetostrictive liquid level sensor (magnetic ruler) is developed using "magnetostrictive" technology. This technology was first developed by an American company in 1975. It has been widely used internationally in liquid level measurement systems that require high measurement accuracy and reliability. It has the characteristics of high precision, high resolution, good repeatability, stability and reliability, non-contact measurement, long service life, easy installation, and strong environmental adaptability. 2、 Working principle
The working principle of magnetostrictive liquid level sensor (magnetic ruler) is shown in Figure 1. This product mainly consists of a measuring rod, an electronic chamber, and a non-contact floating ball (with a magnet inside) mounted on the measuring rod. The measuring rod is equipped with a magnetostrictive tube (waveguide) and is made of non-magnetic stainless steel tube, which reliably protects the waveguide. When working, a starting pulse is generated by the electronic circuit inside the electronic chamber. When this starting pulse is transmitted in the waveguide, a rotating magnetic field is generated along the direction of the waveguide. When this magnetic field meets the permanent magnetic field in the magnetic ring, a magnetostrictive effect is generated, causing the waveguide to twist. This twist is sensed and converted into corresponding current pulses by the energy pickup mechanism installed inside the electronic chamber. The time difference between the two pulses can be calculated by the electronic circuit to accurately measure the liquid level height of the measured medium.
